Family and Chicken Pox

We've had a busy 2 months since Zane arrived. We've had family in and out over the last 8 weeks and 3 rounds of the Chicken Pox. Ellie and Mason got them just as our last round of family was leaving. Mason did really well with them he wasn't a scratcher but now that he has scabs he's been picking so we'll see how many of them actually scar. Ellie on the other hand was quite a whiny hiney and everything hurt and she did a lot of crying but she's done really well with not picking so hopefully we'll get away with only a few scars from the big bad ones which she had a couple of.

It was great to see my Grandma, Aunt, Sister and cousin, and hopefully my sister will be coming out to live near us next year to further her education at SUU.  We're excited that she wants to be close and that we have a great school for her and having a baby sitter close by will be AWESOME!! (love you Iv's)

Chicken Pox

The Chicken Pox have arrived and I am crossing my fingers that the baby doesn't get them. Dell came home with a letter last Wed. letting me know that there were students in the school out with the Chicken Pox, and on Friday those spots started appearing. Now he's home from school for the week, and Ellie's home because I don't want to send her to school not knowing when she could be contagious. Everyone but JD and I are hands off the baby until the Pox have cleared the house. Here's our spotted boy, he's done amazingly well with them he hasn't been scratching much and I think that's part of the reason he's had a rather mild case, well that and all the immune boosting supplements he's taking.

Zane's Blessing

We blessed Zane the end of Feb. while my Mom was here and JD's parents came up as
well to be apart of it. It was nice to have them all here for that.

Birthday Boys Take Two

We had a quiet Birthday night with the boys. Dell wanted hamburgers and fries for dinner, and then he picked out a "big doughnut cake" as he called it and they opened their presents.

Baby Boy

Zane is 2 weeks old already and growing like crazy. He's already weighing in at 9lbs and almost 21inches. They grow so quickly at this age. I've been trying to take lots of pictures. Here's a few to enjoy.

Birthday Boys

We had a small birthday party for Dell at the bowling alley yesterday. He's been asking to go bowling for weeks so we thought it would be a great activity for his birthday. He only invited a few kids and he had a good time. I can't believe he'll be 7 how time flies. Mason got in on the birthday action too as he'll be 2 next week.

Speedy Delivery

Zane Rockwell came flying into the world Sat. Feb. 5th, 2011at 3:02am weighing in at 8lbs 5oz and 20inches long.
We had planned on doing another home birth, but he had plans of his own. My water broke at 2:00 and we called the mid wife and she said to call back when contactins started they took about 10 mins or so to start and then they came every 2 min but very short 10-15 seconds so I waited to call the midwife because my contractions have always started slow. Within about 10 minutes they were one on top of another and I couldn't catch my breath let alone breathe and the midwife hadn't even left yet so I "begged" JD to take me to the hospital for some pain relief. So we loaded up and when we got to the hospital I ran through the doors trying to get to Labor and Delivery but buckled over on the floor about half way there. This is where Zane made his grand entrance in the world on the floor of the hospital lobby while the nurses came running down the hallway. This is not what I had in mind for his birth but it turns out that it was the best circumstance we could have had, because had he been born at home the mid wife would not have arrived until 10-15 minutes after his birth and we had no supplies at home to be able to clear his airway and make sure he was okay. My labor progressed so quickly (1cm to delivery in an hour) that I didn't have time to recover from each contraction before another one hit and that's why I couldn't catch my breath and truly felt totally out of control. I'm very grateful to have a happy healthy little boy.
