Yard work

We have a HUGE backyard and up to this point it's been a mess. There were other projects we wanted to get done first but this year we're working on it. We move the trampoline to the other side of the yard to get it out of the way and hired a friends husband to come over and clear it. All is can say is man what a difference just clearing it made it looks even bigger. We've now leveled out a little and put grass seed down, it's starting to sprout but we still have a long way to go. We may have to bring in a load of top soil to give the seeds some "good" dirt to really grow in as the ground around here is very clay like. We were hoping to avoid this step but it's just not coming in very well.

I'll post more pictures as we progress, we have plans for some fruit tress and a small fence to seperate the grass and trees.

Coach Pitch

It's that time of year again and we're back into coach pitch. To be honest this year has really sucked. The coach is a 17 yr old girl who claims she has played and coached for years. She doesn't know what she is doing, doesn't do any real coaching or helping them learn, on the plus side there are a few parents who are pitching in and helping the kids. The first game was awful they didn't even get to play a full game beacuase it took the coach so many pitches to even get it close to where the kids could get them. In the end I guess it doens't matter too much Dell is still having fun and getting to play a game with his peers so it's still a win for me.

Dell's Room

We've been woeking on Dells room over the last 8 months or so. The walls were bare studs with insulation in them when we started. Drywall went up last summer but that was as far as it got last year. Last week we decided we were going to get it done. We taped, mudded, textured, painted and now we're doing the finishing touches. He chose he colors Blue, Grey, Red, and he wanted a chalk board. I have to say that I think it looks really good, we've got a little more trim to put up, some sort of Closet organizer and a good deep clean and he'll be good to go.

Zane's First Haircut

Little guy got his first haircut last week. He's still a little guy but this helped him look a little bigger.

My Babies

I got the camera out to get some pictures of my sweet little ones today. I had so much fun, and slowly but surely I'm learning about my camera. Eventually I'll know what it all does until then, just enjoy these sweet faces.

Dancing Time!

It's recital time for Ellie, she's had 2 small ones this week and her end of year recital is in a couple of weeks. She's really enjoyed dancing this year, and has really come out of her shell.

Project

I love a project, but I don't always have the best timing. When we lived up north I tore apart a bathroom while JD was out of town and he only had 3 days to help me put it back together before family came to town. Last month JD had a few business trips to LA.  Our front door is a beautiful solid Pine door that has been abused by the sun. I asked about refinishing it last summer and JD said we needed to take it off to do it properly and well it never happened, so I brought it up in early April and he said well why don't we wait until it gets a little warmer.  It was deja vu I know we have a ton of other projects to take care of and the door wasn't on the top of his list, but it was up there on mine. I mean it's an easy project and I can do it. So while JD was in LA he got a text saying "tackled the door" and he said "what does it figure".  I did it minus taking the door off it's hinges, I sanded and sanded and sanded until it was smooth and  beautiful, then I oiled it. The door is beautiful and it gave the front of the house a
little face lift.
